Unfortunately Captain Tom was unable to play which meant the 3 to 5 strings had to move up a place.
Both Tim and Michael lost lost 3-1 whilst Jimmy lost 3-0.
The best result of the evening was for George who fought back from 2-0 down to win the last 3 games 15-5 for an excellent 3-2 victory.
Playing at one, Glen lost a close third game but eased through 3-1.

The 20th January saw an excellent start to the second half of the season with a convincing 16-8 win away to Towers 4. George and Michael both won 3-1, Glenwon 3-0, a narrow 3-2 loss for Thomas and a loss for Tim. An excellent result given that we lost to Towers 4 in the first match of the season.

Mid Season Team Report

The LDSC team is now half way through the 2025/26 Winter League. Taking the past two years, 5 of the team who played at 2 or 3 have not been available. This has led to 4 of the players having to step up one or two positions.

We had one stand out result where we won 5-0 with the help of one otf last season’s players.

At number 1, Glen has won every match! Unfortunately there were many courageous performances but four 4-1 losses and two at 3-2.

However the mood is positive and the team are intending to reverse some of the losses from the first half of the season when they play the reverse fixtures.

Handicap Tournament

Congratulations to Glen for winning the annual Handicap Tournament in December 2025, pictured being presented with the trophy by our Team Captain. Both men are resplendent in the teaam’s new away kit.

Due to the number of courts being reduced to three, the event was held over a Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday Glen beat Michael to go through to the final against Hanif who beat Stephen on the Wednesday.

The final was held in the following week when Glen beat Hanif despite the handicap.

Club Champion Again

Ldsc held the 2025 Club Championship in May . We had 16 entrants who competed over 4 rounds.

The result was that Glen retained his title having defeated both young abd old. He had to work hard at times and even took off his track suit! In the final round he defeated Kamran 2-0. Our pictures show the winner and the presentaion made by Club Captain Thomas along with some of the players.
