With the loss of our established No. 2 and No. 3 players at the start of the campaign, we knew we were stepping into a year of rebuilding. Our final record of 2–12 and a bottom of the table finish tells only a small part of the story.

What truly defined this season was the team spirit, camaraderie, and fight shown every single week. Every player stepped onto court with determination, and every match was played with heart. For that, the whole squad should feel proud.

Player Performances

Glen – Outstanding at No. 1

For the third year running, Glen has been the anchor of our team. Taking on the No. 1 position once again, he delivered an exceptional 11–1 record. His consistency and quality kept us competitive in every fixture and set the standard for the rest of us.

Michael – A Strong Second Half

Michael’s improvement throughout the season has been one of the highlights. Finishing with a 3–8 record, he found his stride in the second half and produced some excellent squash. Fitness may have been a factor at times, but his determination and willingness to battle to the final point were inspiring.

Captain Tom – Leading from the Front

Although my own record of 0–10 doesn’t shine on paper, the points contributed, the coaching from the sidelines, and the motivation within the team were all part of our collective effort. Perhaps I’ll take some of my own advice next season!

Tim – The Workhorse

With a 2–12 record and the highest number of matches played, Tim spent more time on court than anyone else. He pushed many of his games to the full distance and showed tremendous endurance and commitment.

George – Most Improved Player

George’s development this season has been remarkable. With a 5–5 record, he produced multiple comeback wins from 0–2 down, showing maturity, grit, and real growth. His progress has been one of the most exciting parts of the season.

Jimmy – A Promising Debut

Our newcomer Jimmy secured his first win and finished with a 1–8 record. Beyond the numbers, he brought enthusiasm, heart, and a brilliant attitude to every match. A great first season with plenty more to come.

Andy – Reliable and Ready

Andy stepped in when needed and supported the team with a 0–2 record. His willingness to help and his positive attitude were greatly appreciated.

Shrey – 100% Record

A perfect 1–0 for Shrey, who delivered exactly what the team needed on the day.

Evan – Unfortunate Injury

Evan’s only appearance ended with a nasty accident on court. We wish him a full recovery and hope to see him back on court soon.

Looking Ahead to 2026/27

Next season will be another step in our rebuilding journey. With limited access to Michael and the need to strengthen our middle order, recruitment will be a priority. But the foundation is already in place : team spirit, commitment, and a willingness to fight for every point.

One area where we did finish top this year was appearance. Our new home and away kits looked fantastic, and we were the envy of the league. With new sponsorship already secured, next year’s kit will be even better.

End‑of‑Season Celebration & Recruitment

We now look forward to our well‑deserved end‑of‑season pizza night, where we’ll celebrate the highs, laugh about the lows, and start planning for next year.

If you’re interested in joining the squad for the 2026/27 season, please come and speak to me — we’re always looking for committed players who want to be part of something positive.

Captain TOM

The Winter League 2025/26 has now come to a close, and it has certainly been a season that tested the depth, resilience, and character of Luton & Dunstable Squash Club.
